Happy Birthday, honey!!!

September 16, 2007 | Life in General

Today is my hubby’s birthday. One week ago today, we celebrated our 1 yr wedding anniversary. I was the one who suggested getting married on that day, totally forgetting that a week later would be another gift giving occasion.

I think my hubby has it real easy. He can never complain “I don’t know what to get you.” And if he does, then he really doesn’t know me after 6 years. I’m always happy with one–or all–of the following:

~ A gift card to Bookstar/Barnes and Noble…because I will never stop reading.

~ A gift card to The Body Shop…because my skin loves their Vitamin E Body Butter

~ A gift cert to GoJane.com…because their clothes are so not trendy, but their still cool.

~ A gift card to Starbucks…because Caramel Macchiatos will never go out of style.

~ Movie tickets….because I’m a movie-going freak and ticket collector.

He can never go wrong with these things. My family and friends can never wrong with these things. And if you can’t remember all those things, just remember the most important one: bookstore. It’s that easy.

Not so for the hubby. I think I topped myself when I got him those tickets for our anniversary (see post link above). My hubby isn’t into sports, unless martial arts suddenly becomes a new Olympic event, so any “favorite team” thing wouldn’t work. I went to the Chinese Cultural Center yesterday, but I didn’t find anything I thought he’d like. At least, nothing martial arts-ish.

Instead, I ended up buying him a Tommy Bahama shirt.

100% silk.

A nice blue to bring out his eyes.

Stitched Hawaiian theme on the back. Nothing too cheesy.

Normally $130, but it was on sale for $110. When I said something about checking out a picture next door, the lady hurriedly said she would give me an add’l 10% off. Not that I was trying to haggle or anything but…SOLD!

Only to come home, have him try it on and say, “It’s too big. I need a Medium.” I’d gotten a large.

Sigh.

Of course. We had dinner at TGI Fridays where I had a tasty Wild Berry Sangria. It was even better than the ones I get at the Olive Garden. Then we went to see a sneak preview of ‘The Kingdom’ (I’ll have a review up later).

We did all this yesterday. Because today, on his real birthday, he’s doing the male bonding thing with his best friend, Josh.

Happy Brithday, hon.

    Hey Celise,
Your favourite presents sound a lot like mine - I too love to read, adore the body shop, have an addiction for Starbucks (but for hot chocolate, not caramel macchiatos) and could easily enjoy myself at the movies. Perfect!

Woo hoo! Sounds like a fun birthday. I know what you mean about the anniversary/birthday thing. We got married ON my hubs birthday. I’m sure that’ll get annoying after a few years.

I’ve been out of the blogosphere for a while–did you ever get the signed copy of Back Talk that I sent? I hope so! I’m still catching up on mondo amounts of emails…

Congrats again, on your wedding anniversary! awesome.

What an awesome idea for a present! Those are practically all the same things my family and friends and boyfriend can’t go wrong with getting me!
