I received the results back from that free mammo: negative. I’m lump free. It’s all good in the Breast Neighborhood. I’m glad because there other women out there aren’t that lucky. Which is why I signed up for the Gal to Gal Walk. It’s a virtual walk for Stage IV Breast Cancer patients and the proceeds go to the Gal to Gal Foundation. You can still register and join stars like Molly Sims, Mena Suvari, and Martha Stewart for only a $3 donation. It’s Day 11 of the walk and we’re currently walking through Nashville, TN. It ends Oct 31st in San Francisco, so hurry and walk the “virtual” walk for a good cause.

For the first time ever, I’m feeling challenged. Not with the writing (that’s always a challenge), but with the day job. I was so caught in a rut for so long with doing just data entry and medical claims data entry, it became my comfort zone. But this job that I’ve been at for nearly 6 months challenges me. I’m a Records Clerk (and really, I just found out that my duties aren’t going to do that title justice) and my dept, Contract Admin, is in charge of (among other things) shredding services for all the military bases. ALL OF THEM. The bulk lands on the new Records Mgr, but they’ll be coming to me with questions, too. We had a mtg today with the Director of Operations to discuss the financial feasibility of shredding services vs in-office shredders. The Director of Operations!!!
And then there’s the new Records Mgmt Database that was implemented not too long after I came on board. Me and the new Records Mgr basically have to create a training module and train people on how to use this system. From scratch, people!
Crazy? Probably.
Challenging? Hell to the yeah.
This ain’t yer Mama’s Records Clerk job. This is like Records Asst.
I can’t wait to get hired on permanently.
