October 30, 2007 | How coolio is THAT?, The 4-1-1 on Me
I didn’t really start doing Halloween again until I met my hubby. He’s been doing Darth Maul for the past 6 years and I’ve been trying to mix it up a little.
When I was younger, I remember being a bunny rabbit (I had pink footed pj’s and all my mom had to do was buy bunny ears and slap a wad of cotton on my ass), and an Army gal (my Dad is former Army and I wore his camos). I don’t remember much else, but my parents probably have some pics in the albums somewhere.
Alex had a great post about past Halloween costumes and she was brave enough to post a few of them. I thought it was such a great idea, I stole it. So, here are a few of my past ones.
2001 - “Storm” and “Darth Maul” (click on the pic for a fuller view) It took him 8 hrs to do the make-up. Now, after all these years, it takes him 4. And the make-up he uses is definitely a lot better now.
No, that’s not a real blade in the saber. He’s just really good at Photoshop.

2004 - “Niobe” from The Matrix Trilogy (click on the pic for a fuller view)
The hubby found the sunglasses and the guns online. The pants I bought on sale at one of those Wet Seal type of places, the gloves we found at a sporting goods store and he just painted them brown, and I forgot where we found the coat. He created his own snake skin pattern, cut it out and spray painted it on the coat and pants. The hair-do is courtesy of my beautician. It hurt like hell to sleep on, but I got TONS compliments when we went to the Masquerade Ball in Vegas.

2005 - Mrs. Darth Maul (click on pic for fuller view) This was my idea. The hubby painted me and just used a made-up pattern.
I bought the black bustier at Frederic’s of Hollywood for like, $80 and could barely breathe in the damn thing. We went to a Halloween Costume contest at Graham’s niteclub that night. We didn’t win, but were finalists.

2005 - The Maul Clan (click on pic for fuller view)
This is what would happen if Darth Maul ever mated. The boy is the son of a friend in the DSG. He wanted to be Darth Maul that year, too. The hubby had a busy night that night. He painted all of us!
I’m doing Storm again this year, but I have a WAY better costume. Custom made and looks like the one she wore in X-Men 2–except I’m going with the original long hair, not the 70’s feathered look you see here. I never did like that way or the way it was in X-men 3. I’ll be sure to post pics later on today or Wednesday, so you can get the full effect.
So, what are YOU going to be for Halloween this year?

I wish we had something like Halloween Down Under. Some people get into the whole “trick or treat” thing, but costumes aren’t a big deal. Your costumes are great, btw. I wonder what I’d get dressed up as…maybe a superhero like Wonder Woman, or that chick who can be invisible (Jessica Alba) from Fantastic Four. Not sure, but sounds great, and hope you have fun!
Happy Halloween!

Oh my! What awesome costumes! I have never been as creative as you, I generally just get my costumes from Wal*Mart or something
But they are awesome! You look amazing in all of them!

You look fantastic as Niobe. More beautiful than Jada!

I love your pics! Glad I could inspire your post.
You look so hot as the girl from Matrix. But I also love the makeup you and the hubs did for Mr. & Mrs. Darth Maul. Very cool!
Can’t wait to see pics from this year’s costume!
