Weekend Wrap-up: a whole lotta nothin…and a movie

May 27, 2008 | Uncategorized

Hope everyone had a great and safe Memorial Day. This should’ve have gone up yesterday, but I freely admit that I was too lazy to do so. I didn’t do a whole helluva lot this weekend, to tell the truth.

Saturday: read, did laundry, answered email, contacted photographers regarding family reunion next year

Sunday: read and did some more laundry

The hubby and I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull yesterday. Have you guys seen it yet? What did you think? I liked it. Don’t know if I would see it again, but I liked it. A couple of the stunts were a little over the top, but then again, it wouldn’t be an Indiana Jones movie without over the top stunts. I don’t remember what time period the first three were made in, but I liked the fact that this one was in the 50’s. Every time Shia whipped out his comb to touch up his do, I laffed. It was such a Danny Zucko greaser thing to do, you know?

The main reason I love going to the movies is the previews. Seeing trailers for The Dark Knight and The Incredible Hulk are getting kind of old, so I was hoping to see something good this time. I wasn’t disappointed. For all you Stephenie Meyer fans out there, Twilight will be coming soon. I don’t remember an exact date, but I want to see it. I haven’t read any of her books, but I hear they’re quite popular. She’s a local author, too, I might add. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with Brad Pitt looks very, very interesting. They made him look really young in this movie. I’m talkin’ Legends of the Fall Meet Joe Black young here, people. And the action-packed identity theft flick Eagle Eye with Shia looks good too.

I also should have got caught up with the typing thing, but again, that laziness kicked in and I didn’t feel like it. I thought about it. Does that count? LOL. I’d bought like 6 books Friday after work and I just wanted to do nothing but read all weekend. I think I’m still good with the revision deadline, though. I’m currently handwriting Chapter 12, but need to type up Chapter 8 and everything after. The typing part I don’t care about. Just as long as I’m done with revisions in general by the 31st, I’ll be happy.

I hope you all are enjoying A Royale Pain so far. Your comments have been much appreciated. So, the Prologue is over. You know her past and how she got to be where she is at present. Now, we’re getting down to the nitty gritty. During the month of June, you will be reading Chapter 1. Next Monday, I will post the Prologue in its entirety first and Chapter 1 will follow directly after (I will only do this for the prologue since it’s so short). If you’d like the opportunity to receive a copy of the book at a discounted price, please put your email address on the Notification List. You can do so at the end of each Miss Snitch Monday post.

So, how was your holiday weekend?

    Boo-hoo-hoo!

I’ve wanted to see Indy #4 on opening weekend for like FOUR months or something! It’s seriously been on my calendar that long. But, as bad luck would have it, my babysitter bailed on me until the last possible moment. So, when I found myself at the theater in Park City, Utah, the shows were all sold out! |*(

I did get to see Made of Honor, but I *really* wanted to support Indy on opening weekend. Do they track opening week stats? I probably still go this week… maybe…..

Yay, Chapter 1! Nitty gritty! Can’t wait. :-)

Twilight - which I read recently and adored - is coming out December 12. And tomorrow - how fitting, my birthday! - Stephanie Meyer’s releasing the first chapter of Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in the trilogy (which it obviously isn’t any more.) Excitement! I’m only the tiniest bit obsessed…

Is tomorrow the revision deadline? Best of luck!

    And of course…when I say tomorrow, I mean the 31st, because it’s the 30th where I am. ;-)

JAG - the 31st, for me, is on Saturday. And it’s looking really good.

Suzy - I had thought about seeing MADE OF HONOR because I like those types of movies. I’m sure that’s the male POV of the movie MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING. I still may see it.

i haven’t seen the new indiana jones film yet, but my brother has. it isn’t his kind of film at all, he went there with a birthday party, and he was scared before, but i think he really liked the film because he couldn’t talk about anything else afterwards. haha, that thing where mutt pulls out his comb and touches up his hair is really funny - i like the fact that the film takes place in the 50s too.
and i am with other things as you were with typing - i think “oh, i must do that” and then i don’t ^^
where i live, we don’t have memorial day, so i don’t have a holiday, but so far my weekend has been okay too.

Yep. But unlike MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING, MADE OF HONOR ends happily for the guy!

Last week, during all the painting and moving, we REALLY needed a break. I took the hubby and our boys (ages 3 & 5) to see INDY #4. Except a few “scary” parts for the 5yo, we all LOVED IT! As of last night, we’ve watched all four INDY movies in the past week. We showed the boys the first three movies. Especially our 3yo is “all about” INDY now. Our 5yo wants to “make a prop from the movie”… THE WHIP, of course! Dad makes lots of movie props, so we thought it was funny tha he had decided this.

Anyway, just thought I’d let you know I finally saw #4, and we’ve just watched #1, #2, and #3. They are just plain fun, feel-good, action movies. It makes me smile to think of them and I automatically here Indy’s theme song when I do. Then, since I’m “hearing” the music, I smile some more!

I just went to a friend’s blog and she had the Indy theme song playing on her Playlist.com… so, I’m thinking of Indy and smiling right now. :D
