Didn’t do a whole heck of a lot over the weekend. On Saturday, I went to a little non-profit vendor fair and got some info about volunteering at a few places, then I went to Spy Headquarters to do some research.
I love that place.
For that matter, Draven loves that place.
I’m currently reading a little 25 paged booklet about the basics of lock picking.
Seriously. I kid you not.
Draven needs a little skillage (hah, I made up that word), so while she’s working for the Feds, she’s going to get a little education. Nothing too big, mind you, just a little sumpin’-sumpin’.
RESEARCH IS FUN!!!
Speaking of Draven….general feedback that I’ve gotten is that her last name needs to be changed to something different. With the last name of “Atreides”, people are somehow going to assume that this series is going to be about a family member from “Dune.” I always thought that reference would be before my readers’ time, but….I guess not? Also, there’s a possibility that readers might trip over her last name and how to pronounce it.
I wanted her to have a cool last name. Something as cool as Atreides, and still have it start with an ‘A’, and all I’ve come up with is Adair. Maybe I can still keep the last name, but spell it differently? I don’t know. Adair isn’t as cool as Atreides, so I’m thinking that I may have to conduct a Name Poll.
The other exciting thing that happened was that our AC went out. Hence the title of this post.
Thank God for AC repair guys that work on Sundays…and don’t charge extra to do so.
So, how was your weekend?

Have you tried looking for Surname Sites on the web? A quick search turned up these two (among many others).

You might try browsing the sites to see what catches your eye… something with the sound and feel you have always had in your head, but a little more reader friendly and less Sci-Fi Based.
