June 5, 2009 | Life in General,The 4-1-1 on Me
It’s my birthday today! I took the day off and spent some time with me. I spent three hours this morning getting braids.

Louise and Ana are DA BOMB! They work so quick! In the past, getting braids was an all day thing. 7-8 hrs. For real!!! But Louise and Ana are affordable and they both work on your head at the same time, so you get done in half the time. So, during those 3 hrs, we watched two episodes of Law and Order (the original one), The Young and the Restless, and The View. LOL.
Then I went to get my nails done at this place called Organicures Nail Spa They use an organic line of products called SpaRitual and Traci did a great job. They were too booked to do both (mani/pedi)–since it’s only two of them–so I’ll have to go back some time to get a pedi.
I got birthday wishes from family members and my co-worker/beta reader, LK, took me to lunch at Red Lobster yesterday and gave me a $15 GC to AMC (my fav movie theater). Mr. Maul is taking me out to dinner tonight at The Cheesecake Factory. YUM! They’ve got the most awesome tiramisu. Oh, and the parental units gave me a timeshare for 3 days. My BF is getting married in Reno in about 3 months and he asked me to stand up with him. Well, duh, I said of course. He stood up with me, after all. Anyhoo, my parents gave me the timeshare as a b-day present, so that’s one less expense we have to worry about.
While Mr. Maul is doing the male-bonding thing with his BF tomorrow, I think I’ll extend my “Me Day” and go see a movie by myself and use that card.
There’s a bunch of Gemini’s in my family. My sister celebrated her b-day on the 3rd, mine’s today, my uncle’s is tomorrow and my nephew’s is on the 10th.
We so rule! Happy birthday to all you other Gemini’s out there.

summer says:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Yeah your braids look really good. I need to get my hair braided one of these days. Wish I lived near Louise and Ana! LoL. sounds like a goooood birthday day!
What movie are you gonna see? I’m thinking about checking out the Hangover!

Ooh. It sounds like you’ve had such a great day!
Good for you taking time just for you!
I use to do that for myself on something I called “My Day”. It wasn’t my birthday, it was just a date I liked (I love numbers) during my favorite season of the year. I would take the day off of work and indulge myself.
I’ve realized that “My Day” has slipped away since I married Lord Vader… then I realized that it is because he treats me like A Queen ALL.THE.TIME, and I don’t have to take time out on a special day anymore, I can take time whenever I need it and he’s always SO supportive of it.
We just passed “My Day” and we spent it as a family exploring in the rain and fishing. It was a great weekend!

For as long as I’ve had a job, I’ve taken my birthday off. It’s a good tradition, I think.

I did have a great birthday, day. It’s always good to take the time to pamper yourself. It’s been a while since I’ve done that. I plan to see MY LIFE IN RUINS. I loved Nia Vardalos in MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING and in this movie they actually filmed it in Greece. Ever since I saw SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS, I’ve wanted to visit Greece. After seeing MAMMA MIA!–and not trying to cut my ears off after hearing Pierce Brosnan sing–my need to visit Greece was once more reinforced. Someday we’ll go.
just a girl says:
OMGGG! HAPPY BIRTHDAY for yesterday!
I saw this sentense – “I plan to see MY LIFE IN RUINS” and got a little worried for you, but then realised you meant a film.
At least, I hope you did…
YAY for Geminis! I’m a Gemini too.

JAG – LOL. Um, yeah, no life in ruins in reality. Just the movie. Which was really cute, BTW. Thanks for the belated birthday wishes.
