December 10, 2009 | "Whoa whoa I gotta go...back to schoooool...again",1st Semester,EIS,Life in General,Math Explorations,Prescott College,School Daze,The 4-1-1 on Me
I survived my first semester of college and got all A’s!!! But these past 15 weeks did not come without hardship:
~ 2 mini-breakdowns
~ Numerous panicky “Holy crap, I’m overwhelmed” emails to my core faculty (aka advisor)
~ Intermittent–okay, who am I kidding–numerous, copious, oceans-wide, you get the gist…moments of doubt
~ And a “little” thing known as student loans that cling to your credit like a bad fungus. “I didn’t mention that I got approved for financial aid, honey? Oh. Um. Surprise!”
But there were some great moments, too:
~ Numerous pep talks from peers and core faculty
~ Numerous bear hugs and “You can do it’s” from Mr. Maul
~ “Remind me again why I did this?” phone calls with my best friend
~ Receiving the Encouragement Postcards we filled out (to ourselves and people we met) during orientation
~ The fact that I created my own degree plan and now have a visual guide of my future
I only dipped my toe in the water with two classes (and look how that turned out), but I think I’ve found my groove now and I’m looking forward to working with some great people and gaining hands-on experience as I learn. I think that’s pretty cool. My graduation date is December 2011. In January, I’ll hit the ground running with three classes every semester until then. No breaks. It’s probably going to kill me, but I know it’s going to be worth it. I know it.
