Follow Friday #12: Whatchu watchin’?

February 25, 2011 | Boob Tube,Follow Fridays,Life in General

This week’s question: What’s your current favorite T.V. show?

It’s been a while since I’ve participated (lately, it seems like nothing but school, school, school is occupying my time), so I thought I might jump in this time because I love talking about TV shows. Babendude and I watch a lot of shows. I’m surprised we can keep up with them. Needless to say, we do a lot of recording. Since GLEE is one of my favorite shows, and was already talked about by the blogger of the week, I’m choosing SUPERNATURAL.

Maybe you’ve heard of it? Two hot guys—who happen to be brothers—traveling around the states in a black 1967 Chevy Impala laying waste to all things, well, supernatural? No? For those of you clueless people out there, this series follows the de-gorgeous Winchester brothers—Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles)–as they hunt demons and other figures of the paranormal variety. They also get a little help from fellow demon hunter, Bobby (Jim Beaver) and an angel named Castiel (Misha Collins). This show first aired back in 2005 and I’ve been tuning in from the beginning. We’re in the middle of Season 6 right now and I think it’s going to be the last one. I’ll be sad to see it go, but I’m sure J’n’J are ready to move on.

From the get-go, Sam been my favorite character.

Do you blame me? With abs like that, I can’t help but tune in each week to see if he’s going to have a shirtless scene. LOL. It’s been interesting to see him grow as a person—physically—and as a character. He’s gone from wanting a normal life and giving up the job to being a balls-to-the-wall demon hunter. Dean Winchester was the jaded, hard-edged one and Sam was the one who still saw the positive side in things. They’ve both been brought back from Hell (not at the same time, of course) and since then, their roles have been reversed.

Some things I love about this show:

~ It can be both serious and funny – This time, Sam was brought back from Hell, but we soon found out that he came back without his soul. For a few weeks, Dean wondered if he could ever trust his brother again. Personally, I was wondering the same thing and it got me to thinking about the whole “soulless human” aspect. And I look forward to the FBI alias names they concoct. Hi-larious.

~ Jared Padalecki

~ The music – Dean has this thing for 80’s music, particularly Journey and/or Foreigner, so they’re always playing stuff like that, or 70’s rock. Thanks to this show, I now have a need to download “Carry On My Wayward Son” by Blue Oyster Cult. During the first few seasons they would play this song while they were recapping what’s been going on so far.

~ It’s all about family – Blood is thicker than water and Sam and Dean live by this creed. These brothers have proven over and over that they would do anything for each other. Because really, all the family they have left is each other.

~ Jared Padalecki

~ Castiel (aka “Cass”) – I have yet to see this dude smile, but his scenes can be hilarious.

~ The Impala – That car is like a Timex watch: it can take a licking and keep on ticking. It’s the ultimate man toy and it’s so damned sexy, it’s not even funny. I can recall a few eppies where this thing got totaled, but it’ll be back like new in the following eppie. Nice!

~ Jared Padalecki

~ They do a lot of reading – That may seem like an odd sticking point, but for a bookworm like me, I think that’s pretty awesome. They use their father’s journal as a guide most of the time, but whenever they hit up a new town, they’re always doing research—the Internet, the town library, etc. They really need to come out with a READ poster of these guys. I would so buy it.

~ And did I mention, um…Jared Padalecki?

I’m gonna stop now. Really. So, what’s your favorite current TV show right now? What else are you watching?

School Daze: It’s Official

January 11, 2010 | "Whoa whoa I gotta go...back to schoooool...again",2nd Semester,Boob Tube,Life in General,Nonprofit Explorations,Prescott College,Rio Salado,School Daze,Spring 2010,The 4-1-1 on Me

I start school today. I’ll be taking three classes this semester: Nonprofit Explorations (mentored), LAS (Liberal Arts Seminar): Community and Social Change and Modern Fiction. This semester, I’ll be going to two schools: Rio Salado and Prescott College–online, that is. So from now on, when I complain talk about these courses in their acronmyous (hah. I just made that word up) forms–NP, LAS, MF–you’ll know what I’m complaining talking about.

The first two classes don’t start until the 15th, but it still applies. I officially start school this week.

Blogging may be on a minimum.

As is visiting/commenting on the other blogs I try to read on the regular. Although, I may have to sneak over to Crystal’s blog because I have a feeling she’s going back to her weekly TV show updates. We’re both big fans of CHUCK and he’s back in a kick-ass way. Woot!

So, is anyone else back in school?

Diggin’ in the WEEDS

January 7, 2010 | Boob Tube,Life in General

So, The Hubs and I finally got caught up on WEEDS. All 4 seasons. LOVE. THIS. SHOW. We just watched the season finale last night. O.M.G. Our mouths dropped open and we looked at each other like, W.T.F?

He’s all, “I did not see that coming.”

Shane needs counseling.

Seriously.

That kid should’ve been put in counseling the minute he found out his mother was a drug dealer.

And Silas needs a chastity belt or something. He is such a horn dog. But that’s teenage boys for you, I guess. It was amazing to watch these boys grow up on this show. Playing these characters can’t be easy. I mean, have you seen this show? Have you seen the stuff they’ve had to do? Utter craziness. They’re just amazing.

And Alanis Morrisette!!! Wha-wha…? I had no idea she was an actress now. Is she still making records? Jagged Little Pill was one of my favorite albums back in the day. I used to sing “You Oughtta Know” like I had something to be angry about. LOL.

To say that this family is dysfunctional is a major freakin’ understatement. I’m so glad they did away with the theme song by season 4. It was annoying as hell, no matter how many different artists sang it. Besides, the creative ways they manage to show “Weeds”, “created by Jenji Kohan” and the weed “logo” at the beginning is way better.

Can’t wait to see what the next season brings. So, are you a WEEDS fan, too? Who’s your favorite character?

Random Thought #55

December 7, 2009 | Boob Tube,Life in General,Random Thoughts

Justin Hartley has pretty feet.

Seriously.

That’s about as random as I can get, but it’s true. For those of you that don’t know, this Hottie on a Stick plays Oliver Green/The Green Arrow on SMALLVILLE. I’ve been catching up on my eppies and was able to watch one and half eppies yesterday. Anyhow, in one of the November eppies (don’t ask me the name), there’s a scene where they focus on his feet. He’s walking into a hole-in-the-wall bar in what looks like Mexico and he’s wearing flip-flops.

I was thinking “Wow, that person has really pretty feet.” And then the camera pans up the long, tall, drink of water that is Justin dressed in raggedy jeans and a T-shirt and I was all “Shut. Up. They’re his feet?” It made me wanna rewind just to see them again.

Seriously.

This dude has beautifully shaped feet. I can’t even really describe them, they’re that pretty. I didn’t get to finish watching the other eppie, but from what I saw, he gets drugged and is running around barefoot in a dirty white suit.

Maybe they focus on his feet again. I’ll have to see.

Random Thought #46

September 26, 2009 | Boob Tube,Random Thoughts,The 4-1-1 on Me

Dear Network Execs,

WHOSE BRIGHT IDEA WAS IT TO CLUTTER THURSDAY NIGHTS WITH GREAT SHOWS?!!!!! Five of our shows are on Thursday nights now. This is ridiculous! It’s bad enough you bumped SMALLVILLE to Kiss-of-Death-For-Shows Friday, but now you’re cramming fabulous programming on one night? Unacceptable.

Our DVR is about to explode.

There are 3 other frickin’ days of the week here, people! What’s wrong with Tuesday? We were lurking on the FRINGE with THE MENTALIST on this day and we were cool with that. And Mr. Maul and I were perfectly happy analyzing bones with, well, BONES on Wednesday nights.

So, what, Monday’s the nappy-haired stepchild now? HEROES may still be trying to save the friggin’ cheerleader on this day, but they still need help from CHUCK, so when you bring back the show, we’d strongly suggest or else greatly appreciate it if you’d keep his goofy butt there.

I think Thursday is getting too much love this season. I feel you’re shortchanging the other days (except Friday and Sunday) and should fire the complete idiot nimrod stupid twit newbie who suggested Thursday be the most popular night for television. I’m just sayin’.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Celise
