Remember this post?
They’re going to announce the prize winners tomorrow and I just got an email today announcing that they’ve whittled the finalists down to 41 people.
Guess who’s on the list?
THAT WOULD BE ME!!! AAAAAHHHHH!
There are only three placings and here’s what you get:
Grand Prize: A comprehensive editorial evaluation of the complete manuscript, followed by a line-edit of the entire manuscript by Renni Browne. If the winning manuscript does not already have a literary agent, it will be entered into our Agent Matchmaking program.
2nd Prize: A coaching line-edit of the first 50 pages, which includes hands-on editing and polishing of a writer’s style with attention to quality and flow of narrative voice, dialogue, proportion, mechanics and overall readability.
3rd Prize: A query and synopsis critique or a critique of the first 10 manuscript pages.
Although it would be nice to win the Grand Prize, I would be just as happy with third. Wish me luck!

I’m going to be a judge for the local RWA Chapter’s, Desert Rose, Golden Quill contest. They don’t have a YA category, unfortunately, but I thought I might volunteer my time since I read adult romance so much.
And here’s the kicker: the books are autographed and you get to keep them.
You get to choose any category you want and they give you 5 books from each category. They have to be read and rated by the end of March. They’ll hand deliver the books during the first week of Feb.
I asked for two different categories.
I have to read 10 books by the end of March.
This should be fun.
They’re actually looking for about 30 more judges. So, if you live within the Phoenix city limits, contact Helen King at helen@virtualkings.com for all the details.

So, according to an article I read recently, Minneappolis and Seattle are two of the Top Ten well-read cities. You can read all about it HERE.
Why am I not surprised to see Phoenix anywhere on this list?

Now it’s time to say goodbye…it’s the final day of Teen Read Week and the final Character Interview. I wanted to give readers a chance to get to know the main characters in my YA novels, so I opened to the floor to questions. Draven Atreides is the main character in my current work-in-progress 6-book series, DRAVEN ATREIDES, TEENAGE FBI and she’ll be answering your questions today. I’m currently searching for representation, so I’m not sure when you’ll be reading her story. Book One is done and Book Two will be done by Nov 1st. Enter to win an autographed ARC of Marina Kuperman‘s Turtle Feet, Surfers Beat by answering a question at the end.

My name is Draven Atreides and I’m your friendly neighborhood snitch.
