March 3, 2010 | Random Thoughts,The 4-1-1 on Me
The last time I wrote a Random Thought was 12-30-2009. LOL. I thought it had been longer than that, but I guess not. I got this one from a friend a few days ago:
Children Write About the Ocean…
1 ) – This is a picture of an octopus. It has eight testicles. Kelly, age 6
2) – Oysters’ balls are called pearls. Jerry, age 6
3) – If you are surrounded by ocean, you are an island. If you don’t
have ocean all round you, you are incontinent. Alex, age 7
4) – Sharks are ugly and mean, and have big teeth, just like Emily
Richardson . She’s not my friend any more. Kylie, age 6
5) – A dolphin breaths through an asshole on the top of its head. Billy, age 8
6) – My uncle goes out in his boat with 2 other men and a woman and
pots and comes back with crabs. Millie, age 6
7) – When ships had sails, they used to use the trade winds to cross
the ocean. Sometimes when the wind didn’t blow the sailors would
whistle to make the wind come. My brother said they would have been
better off eating beans. William, age 7
– Mermaids live in the ocean. I like mermaids. They are beautiful
and I like their shiny tails, but how on earth do mermaids get
pregnant? Like, really? Helen, age 6
9) – I’m not going to write about the ocean. My baby brother is always
crying, my Dad keeps yelling at my Mom, and my big sister has just got
pregnant, so I can’t think what to write. Amy, age 6
10) – Some fish are dangerous. Jelly fish can sting. Electric eels can
give you a shock. They have to live in caves under the sea where I
think they have to plug themselves into chargers. Christopher, age 7
11) – When you go swimming in the ocean, it is very cold, and it makes
my willy small. Kevin, age 6
12) – Divers have to be safe when they go under the water. Divers
can’t go down alone, so they have to go down on each other.
Becky, age 8
13) – On vacation my Mom went water skiing. She fell off when she was going very fast. She says she won’t do it again because water fired right up her big fat ass. Julie, age 7
14) – The ocean is made up of water and fish. Why the fish don’t drown I don’t know. Bobby, age 6
15) – My dad was a sailor on the ocean. He knows all about the ocean.. What he doesn’t know is why he quit being a sailor and married my mom. James, age 7

If it seems like I’ve been MIA from the blogosphere and only posting a couple of times a week, it’s because I’ve been up to my hairline in school stuff. I realize it’s been a while since I’ve done a Weekend Wrap-Up. For a while it’s because there wasn’t much going on on the weekends. I should get back to that, seeing as how this weekend should be blog-worthy. Although, New Years was blog-worthy, too, and I didn’t blog about that, either. Go figure. So, let me catch you up on what’s been going on.
I was taking three classes, but then dropped the Modern Fiction course at Rio Salado. I guess I wasn’t into is as I thought I’d be. I figure I’ll take up a Creative Writing course at a later date. I’ve also been working on a community project for one of my other courses (which I’ll officially announce on Monday) and that’s overshadowed just about everything. That assignment involved a powwow with my BF and grew into something worth “squeeing” about.
I knocked out one of my New Years Resolutions last month by joining a gym: 24 Hour Fitness. I’m currently taking 2 dance fitness classes a week and let me tell you: that first class was. A. Killer. The 24Dance is on Monday nights at 530, so I basically go there straight from work. It’s all different types of dance—salsa, jive, hip-hop, bellydancing, etc. Seeing as how it was my first time, I didn’t stretch out. And paid for it two days later. By the time the Zumba class rolled around on Thursday evening, I was no longer sore. Of course, that comforting thought ended after an hr in that class. I could barely walk the next few days. Everything hurt and my body was saying things like “Ohmygodohmygodohmygod. Stop. Moving.” But I was sleeping good. Sleeping like the dead. And I had more energy. Now, a month later, I think my body’s gotten used to the high-intensity-heart-pumping classes and I’m no longer sore. Ar least, not as much as I used to be. I think I may be even losing some weight.
In the midst of all this, I tried to join a writing accountability group. “Tried” being the key word because I only did it for 2 weeks. This group was going to help me balance my writing life with my real life. We posted daily goals each week, but by the second week, I was already starting to see a pattern: 1) I would forget was I was supposed to be doing each day and 2) When I was supposed to be concentrating on writing DA3, I would think about something I had to do for school. During this 2 week period, I was feeling a little depressed and was carrying around this…raging anger. I was holding all this in and it was affecting my interactions with my manager at work.
The group itself wasn’t making me feel this, by no means. Part of it, I’m sure, was because of Auntie Flow’s Monthly Visit. The main thing was that I had inserted something new into my life and it wasn’t working. Once again, I was getting overwhelmed. My writing felt forced. I needed to take stock. Even though I was excited and hopeful about being a part of this group, it was just a case of wrong place, wrong time.

I went to see THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG after work today.
Thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
Made me want to call up the Disney office and leave a nice little voice mail:
“It’s about damned time. It’s taken you 63 years to create another animated movie with African-American characters? WTF is up with that?”
I’m now gonna have to buy a Tiana frog.
During a scene where the main characters get into trouble, the theater is dead quiet and then you hear this little voice say “Uh-oh.” LOL. It was so cute.
It’s even cuter when they clap at the end.
I love that.

Over the past couple weeks, I’ve been getting ready for school. Finalizing the Study Contract for my mentored course at Prescott College, signing up for an online class at Rio Salado: Modern Fiction and getting situated with that, figuring out weekly scheduled meetings with my mentor and what day to submit homework…
I’ll be taking 3 classes this semester and I realized that I’m going to be doing a lot reading.
I should be getting Book One back from the editor any day now.
And then there’s the little New Year’s resolution I made about my writing.
School doesn’t officially start until the 11th and I’m already getting that overwhelmed feeling.
I think I just lost my groove.
Crap.

Justin Hartley has pretty feet.
Seriously.
That’s about as random as I can get, but it’s true. For those of you that don’t know, this Hottie on a Stick plays Oliver Green/The Green Arrow on SMALLVILLE. I’ve been catching up on my eppies and was able to watch one and half eppies yesterday. Anyhow, in one of the November eppies (don’t ask me the name), there’s a scene where they focus on his feet. He’s walking into a hole-in-the-wall bar in what looks like Mexico and he’s wearing flip-flops.
I was thinking “Wow, that person has really pretty feet.” And then the camera pans up the long, tall, drink of water that is Justin dressed in raggedy jeans and a T-shirt and I was all “Shut. Up. They’re his feet?” It made me wanna rewind just to see them again.
Seriously.
This dude has beautifully shaped feet. I can’t even really describe them, they’re that pretty. I didn’t get to finish watching the other eppie, but from what I saw, he gets drugged and is running around barefoot in a dirty white suit.
Maybe they focus on his feet again. I’ll have to see.
