My hubby’s BF, J, got married yesterday in Sedona. We drove down on Saturday and stayed the night. Our hotel, Kokopelli Inn, wasn’t what E, J’s bride, had expected. Apparently, there are two Kokopelli hotels–Inn and Suites–and she booked the wrong place. There was no clock in our room so we had to use the hubby’s cell phone for the alarm, and there was an ironing board but no iron. Go figure. The only redeeming feature about this place was the Jacuzzi in the room. Right near the bed. We used it twice. Very relaxing.
I haven’t been to Sedona in years, but as we drove up–and through–the town, I remembered once again why I love living in Arizona. We have the most amazing views. They got married outside at the Crescent Moon Ranch. CLICK PIC FOR BIGGER VIEW
From l to r: Anna (bride’s BF and maid of honor), Reverend Boyd, E (the bride), J (the groom, and my hubby. It was quite a hike from the parking lot. Had I known there would be a bit of a hike, I would’ve worn tennis shoes instead of the heels I’d just bought Friday night. Gah! Needless to say, by the end of it all, my dogs were not barking, but howling like crazy.
They cut the cake outside, too, at the entrance to this public place. CLICK PICS FOR BIGGER VIEW

People who walked by were congraulating them and some people even stayed to watch the ceremony. It was quite beautiful. They created their own vows (just like we did) and I cried a little when J read his. Then we went to L’Auberge Restaurant for brunch. Which was outside and quite beautiful as you can see: CLICK PIC FOR BIGGER VIEW

The one good thing about having a small wedding party is the wedding booty. Would you like to see what we got? CLICK PIC FOR BIGGER VIEW
Lemme break it down for ya:
~ 2 packets of Emergen-C Super Energy Booster Vitamin C Acai Berry flavored fizzy drink - my husband likes these
~ mini shower sponge
~ 2 bells - which we didn’t ring at the ceremony.
~ a box of rose-scented soap petals - which we used in the Jacuzzi the second time around.
~ lavender scented candle tin.
~ small box of Brown & Haley’s Almond Roca Chocolate Toffee Wafer - yuck. But the hubby seems to like them.
~ small tin of Whitman’s Sampler Assorted Chocolates - don’t know if any have nuts. I’ll let him try first.
~ Rose Water Valley’s Lavender scented Hand Care set. Comes with hand cream and a bath fizz ball.
~ a faux strand of pearls - very fun, although I didn’t wear them at the wedding. Maybe I’ll hang them around my rearview mirror.
~ a small tin of Sugar-free Cinnamon Heart Love Mints - and boy! are these things cinnamony.
~ small bottle of Martini & Rossi Asti Sparkling Wine - Blech! Tasted like the same nasty stuff we had at our wedding and I didn’t like it then, either. I had one sip and that was it.
~ plastic champagne glasses - for the nasty champagne. I would’ve preferred Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider (which we drank at the cake cutting).
~ 2 mini ICAM mini dessert cremes
~ a mini piece of milk chocolate from www.Magdenfavors.com with the bride and groom’s name and wedding date on the package - I thought that was pretty cool.
~ a sample of Eternity Moment (for me…which we both liked) and Eternity for Men (for him…which I REALLY liked.)
~ a pen that says “Thank you for joining us on our special day” with their names and wedding date on it.
~ a wedding-themed lighter (for the candle)
~ crackers and Vino Formaggio Cabernet Wine and Black Pepper Pasteurized Processed Cheese Spread - they included plastic knives for us, too.
~ 2 purple gumballs (their colors were lavender and white)
~ a solid milk chocolate cigar - which the hubby thought at first was a real cigar.
~ a 16oz bottle of I Am Loved AquaMantra Natural Spring Water.
~ 2 Sedona postcards.
Yes. We got quite the haul. I couldn’t believe how much E gave us, but then again, she always goes all out for the holidays. Well, the major holidays, anyway. As soon as my Flickr acct is renewed, I’ll upload the rest of the photos and point you in that direction.
All in all, it was a great weekend. I did a lot of traveling last week and I’m ready to settle back down into my usual routine. So, how was your weekend?

The hubby and I went to see How To Lose Friends and Alienate People yesterday. Very funny. I spent the rest of the weekend washing and packing for my trip this week.
I’ll be out of town on business for my day job. I’ll be leaving this afternoon and returning on Thursday, with no access to the Internet. That’s not true. I could probably bring my laptop, but I would need a wireless card to hook up to the outside world. I figure I could use the break, so I’ll just bring a few books.
I’ll see you all later. Feel free to share your weekend activities.

A friend of mine is the Committee Chair for the Aurora Foundation. The homebase is in Tucson and the founder wants to bring it down here, but Sam (my friend) needs help. I went to an informational meeting on Saturday to find out what the organization’s all about and to see where I could volunteer my skills.
Which, turns out, will be in the form of press releases. Cool by me. This organization is going to do a lot for young girls with disabilities so I’m looking forward to working with them.
Spent a little time at Ulta (now I don’t have to go so damn far to get my make-up, Bare Esenctuals) and went to Best Buy and bought a new CD (Three Days Grace, 1st album).
On Sunday, the hubby and I went to see EAGLE EYE. Very action-packed. Shia has grown into quite a handsome guy. Despite his scrapes with the law. This movie brings to mind “How safe are our cell phones?” According to this movie, not safe at all. We’re in a technological age, where everything is run by computers, so anyone could have access to anything about you and your life. That was brought home, in detail, during a scene in this movie. And the fact that the military created the “villain”, so to speak, didn’t surprise me at all. I’m sure this was the #1 movie over the weekend–our theater was quite full–and it deserved to be. It was really great and it’s going to make you more aware. If not somewhat paranoid.
And laundry. What more can I say about that except it seems like I do it every Sunday. Maybe moreso lately because I like to let it get to the point of Leaning Tower of Dirty Laundry before finally caving in. And then I get mad when I have to do 5 baskets worth. And no, I don’t put them away the same day. At least, not all of them. Too tired.
So, one of our favorite shows premiered last night. A show of hands for Dexter fans out there. If you saw my previous post, then you know that Sundays and Mondays are our craziest nights of TV watching. And Suzy was kind enough to point it out, because really, I didn’t want the reality of knowing how many TV shows we watch. Thanks, Suze. Thanks so much. For y’know, breakin’ it down for me. Sigh.
So, how was your weekend?

This is going to be really short but sweet. The hubby and I went to see My Best Friend’s Girl on Saturday. He told me it wasn’t something he wanted to see, but it was something to do so we could get out of the house. Dane Cook is straight-up crazy. This was like Hitch (y’know, Will Smith’s movie?), but the roles were reversed. Some of the stuff he did to piss off women was just…crazy.
The hubby spent the day with his BF on Sunday and I had the whole house to myself. Yay! Me time. I’m likin’ that. I went to Wal-Mart to buy a new wallet and wedgie-free undies (Hanes. LOVE THEM! No more digging). The check-out person was some young dude and as he’s ringing me up, he opens up te wallet and starts looking through it.
“This is so cool. It even has a mirror! Girls are so lucky. They have the coolest stuff,” he said. “Us guys don’t have stuff like that.”
“Yes, but you don’t have to go thru menopause,” I said. “Or periods. So you should feel lucky.”
“What?! You’ve got the best excuse for being rude. What’s better than that? If we do something wrong, we get called a jerk. But if you get all crazy, you can just say ‘I’m PMS-ing’”.
Huh. Never thought of it like that.
But I proved it later on that night. No, not the crazy part. The PMS part.
“After Entourage, we’re hittin’ up Sonic. They’ve got 99 cent junior banana splits. I’m craving something sweet. I must be PMSing.” LOL
So, how was your weekend?

I went to see 3 movies over the weekend:
The Women really was just about women. There was mention of a man—the husband of one of the main characters—but you never saw him. In fact, there were no males, at all, in this movie. Which I found odd. And really, really interesting. I mean, I can’t ever remember seeing a movie where the main focus was women. Just women. Anyhow, it was a great “girlfriends” (I saw it with my BF) movie and if you see it, you’re going to be quite shocked about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s character. I haven’t seen her in anything since The Matrix movies, so it was a treat to see her nonetheless. The kiddie movie Igor came out—or there was a special preview showing—and the line was hellaciously long. I was hoping we didn’t have to wait in that line, and thank God we didn’t. However, in bypassing that line, my BF averted a potential injustice: that of a little boy with casts on both legs using a walker possibly being trampled. Being the disabilities advocate that she is (it’s her job after all), she told the woman they would be able to seat her child first. She introduced herself, took the family up to the ticket taker (and luckily the manager or the mgr-like person walked up at just that moment) and did her thing. She stressed that she just wanted to make sure that little boy was taken care of. How cool is she? My BF. We’ve been friends for over 20 yrs and she never ceases to amaze me.
I went to see The House Bunny Saturday night while my husband was out. Some parts of it were funny, others were corny-funny, and wow, Rumer Willis (as in Bruce and Demi’s oldest daughter) takes after Demi in the looks department. Hugh Hefner had a special appearance, as himself of course, because the main character used to live in The Mansion. I even saw Shaq. And I think the lead singer from AFI (“move along, move along like I know ya do”…ever heard that song?) played a love interest for one of the characters. Oh, yeah, and one of the Cheetah Girls was part of the sorority house, too. She was a major introvert (which was kinda funny) until near the end of the movie.
The hubby and I saw Burn After Reading on Sunday. And we were surrounded by senior citizens. Don’t know if it was a field trip or the senior brunch crowd from nearby JB’s, but besides us, there were 2 other couples our age. Everyone else was “white hairs”. Go figure. Anyhow, my review is short but sweet: hilarious and unexpected. I’m laughing right now because I’m reminded of a scene in the movie where my hubby was so “scandalized” his mouth was hanging open for like, 10 seconds. Brad Pitt was fabulous. He played the blond-haired empty-headed role very well. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him play a role like that. Correct me if I’m wrong, though. I think I’ve seen almost all his movies and his characters have either been serious or semi-serious with some funny lines/expressions.
And what can I say about laundry? It sucks. I hate it. I did 3 loads. Moving on…how was your weekend?
